Margo Caulfield from Cavendish Historical Society leads the annual “walk & talk” about Phineas Gage. made famous by improbably surviving an accident while working on the railroad in Cavendish in 1848, in which a large tamping iron rod pierced through the frontal lobe of his brain. The case of his survival and subsequent recovery has been long-studied in the field of neuroscience.
