WLUD, community radio for the Black River Valley & Okemo region, is making progress! As a reminder (if you need one), last year, we received a permit to build a low power FM community radio station…exciting stuff (if you want to catch up on some of the background, you can read more about that on our News page). We have a volunteer committee of local people building it from the ground up. We are on track to start streaming online with WLUD at the end of 2025, and to be broadcasting on low power FM by the end of 2026!
Right now, we’re busy sourcing the studio equipment that we need. We have been fortunate to receive support from the Town of Ludlow and grants from Ludlow Rotary Club and The Marro Trust to help with building out the room & fitting it up with equipment (mics, computer, console, desk, etc.). With this level of support, we are able to purchase much of it new, but there are other pieces & parts that we’ll need to look for on the used market and/or donated items. We’re also looking for content creators – anyone interested in hosting a show, being a DJ, or creating radio programming.
So, get in touch with us if you want to get involved with the creation of WLUD! We promise it to be a fun & rewarding experience.
